Concrete is an important building material commonly used in the construction of waste water treatment plants. Concrete surfaces are porous and permeable and may crack and leak even when skills are used in placement. If not specified originally, as was the case for this project, polyurea protective coatings may be used for rehabilitation of cracked, leaking concrete surfaces. This phenomenon is more severe in Tongzhou Wasterwater Treatment Plants.
During the testing of concrete rectangle chambers in a wastewater treatment plant under construction, serious leaking problems were discovered prior to project completion.
It appeared that the best option was to find new waterproofing lining systems; the traditional urethane liners were explosive in the confined space and cementitious or epoxy systems are too rigid and will crack with load and cold temperature.
After in-person and telephone conversations took place with Qingdao Shamu International Trade CO., LTD., the Owner made up their mind to selected polyurea applied to these concrete surfaces to stop the leaking and prepare the chambers for operation.
Qtech serials products were chosen because it is an elastomer, flexible and it is safe to apply in confined spaces.
